Cheapest and huge yield increase most years for me us is early planting

Curious what parameters you may have found to be reasonable in choosing an early date. For example, does the chance of frost/freezing temps dictate that you won't plant before a specific date?
Say, "any day in April if the temps are 60s for three days in a row".
Or just shoot from the hip?

Still in the conservative "safe" planting range myself and willing to go later rather than earlier. But would also like to see improvements and change is a good thing.

I’m in SW Indiana pretty far from you all
We haven’t worried about freezing here yet
Have experience with planting April 5 and replanting part of the field May 15 — 15-20 bu less yield
Happened enough times that we leave some very ugly early bears unless there is nothing 20K stand is left even with holes— never have holes 20X20’ hurt us as much as planting a month later

Soybeans sure have taught us how little we know
