Mid MO | You need lime. When you get the fertility right the broomsedge will disappear. The good grass will actually crowd it out. No need to take a second cutting.
Fescue and red clover can't be beat. But it's too late to frost seed the red clover. Instead, I'd put on lespedeza . It can take less fertile soil and is very high quality. Let it make seed before you graze it in the fall. I wouldn't go to alot of expense tearing up sod. Just run what you have, get the fertility right and add legumes. I'd spin on some red clover next feb and let the frost work it it. Fescue is great stockpiled feed and the cheapest way to feed a cowherd. Even better when you add a legume. | |
