I have a similar setup on the planter side. Used a 4840, 4960, and now 8295r. All were plumbed with 3pt and lift on same circuit. I dont put the top pin in the planter so I can use the quick hitch as a stop for setting the level of the planter. As previous poster said this can cause issues when crossing ditches but u can lower planter to male it work. If u don't keep pressure off top link it will break it or break the diff housing. Just have to watch when crossing ditches ect.
I have to pin my wings or they will float up and leave center lower. We always have to run down pressure in heavy clay so maybe yours is different. I didn't try this year pressing down with the 8295r on the stack cylinders.
You got any more pic of that 4840 with the 16 row stackfold? Are you on 38” rows? There’s mostly 3 point planters used around here but I know of none using lift assist wheels. Most of the cotton guys are either 12 row 38”
or 18 row 38”. Most of the non irrigated guys are using 12 or 16 row 30”.
