I should have been more clear that we are positive this is a genetic defect and I'm looking for advice on what it's called so I can test for it.
I hear ya, but I also see that people are offering suggestions and you just keep saying you know the trouble is genetic. So, if I were in your shoes and I knew it was a genetic thing and it affected certain cows…..get rid of all those genetic lines and be done with it. No sense in testing for it and wasting money just to find out later down the road it showed up somewhere else. Just sell them now while prices are high and use that money to buy some cattle that don’t have that genetic “defect” in their lineage.
