I just canned applesauce. I used braeburns..... they were on sale.... i peel and core them.. cut in chunks and put them in a non-stick dutch oven..... Add enought water to make about half an inch in the bottom and cover and cook on medium until falls apart when you mash them with a potato masher...... mash until chunky... add sugar to your taste... may not need much if apples are sweet.... then I add cinnamon sugar mix to taste and put in jars and can.... quick, easy and does not hang around long in the winter...
