Driftless SW Wisconsin

Scott, thanks for the pictures. I would caution you about trying to plant directly over and inline with the ripper slots, however. This can be full of potential problems depending on soil moisture etc.

I would recommend that you rip at a bit of an angle to the rows.

Agboy below planted over ripped slots but these had been gone over in the spring with our Dawn strip till units. If you rip inline with the rows with the intent of planting directly over them you may need to do something to clean them up, line them up or close the slot in the spring. You do NOT want to be planting into a valley or over an open chasm.

We have a number of customers who get started with our Pluribus units in the spring with the intent of running over fall made slots. What they usually find is that they don't need to (nor can they) do this every fall over all their ground. Several customers have evolved into a system where they rip any given field (and maybe deep place some P &/or K at the same time) only every 3-5 years. The other years they just spring strip till and plant.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience.

Jim at Dawn
