Lancaster County, Pa.
Scott, thanks for the pics, very interesting. I'm about 3 hours SE of you in Lancaster county. Switched to all no-till in last few years. Real learning curve! Did you find much earthworn activity in the pits? I used to make fun of guys who fusssed about thier earthworms until I got some decent populations of them and saw firsthand what they did for me. Those little guys will bore down 18- 24" and take corn roots right with them!! Not to mention what they do on the topsoil. Someone mentioned radishes. I planted a few of them last year just to try them. I planted them after wheat, along with some clover just as a cover. Sort of amazing things. I can go out in the cornfield where they were planted and still find holes big enough to stick your thumb in. I'm going to try a few again this year where we took some early silage while fields were to wet, that will be a real test for them!
