Over the last couple of months, three or four Extension people working with peanuts in three different states have told me about varying degrees of leaf damage and defoliation after fungicide applications. Their contention is that it's caused by unwarranted use of surfactants and maybe some amplification of that due to drought and heat stress. It hasn't been a universal thing, but one county agent in Georgia said he's spent more time on those kinds of field calls than anything else this summer.
This all may be completely unrelated to the current thread, but I noticed that several people have mentioned surfactants and other additives as maybe a factor, and I pass this along FWIW. Carl Hobbs or others involved with peanut production may have some observations. |
