Colorado and Oz
I was curious as to what other tractor nav equipment standardizes on CMR specs? Any guess to estimate what sort of market share CMR might have in total? If the reliance on CMR is as wide spread as you suggest then the cost of transition will be simply buying a sufficient mobile or mobile/modem, adding the software application to the phone and you should be good to go? If its Nokia GSM Symbian phones you could be good to go straight away today? If its a Motorola, well a bit more difficult. Heck, just a minute ago ATT/Cingular advertised if you "buy" one phone you can get four additional for free... If you pick Nokia most models I reviewed recently carry capacity to become a modem and port duplex data. But ultimately, its the emerging digital mobile network, either 2.5G (today just about everywhere) or 3.0G (today limited - tomorrow everywhere), have more than sufficient band-width as long as "latency" on data is not too large.
