Subject: RE: New shed- Which posts

I prefer the laminated 2x6 and I don't mind joints. I think they are stronger and straighter than any pile of twisted and cracked 6x6. I've two sheds built with the laminated posts, one dating from 1987, the other only three years old. Both used treated lumber only for the bottom section. I'd use them again. I just laminated up a pole for a light, that's 32' long. It will be a pain to stand up, but I think the glue and stainless steel nails I used will hold it together for a long time. I used foundation grade 2x6 that are kiln dried after treatment.
