I guess it depends on your climate etc. I use 6x6 pressure treated posts the last couple hay sheds I built. The one was 60ft wide and 19ft in hieght. As for them bieng straight buy a bundle of posts don't buy posts from a bundle that was opened in the lumber yard as they will won't be very straight.
