We have a rectangular field that can not be pivot irrigated economiclly.

Dad put pipe under ground with 5 riser pipes. Each riser has a T with a valve on each side. So we have ten sets of irrigation.

I set the field every other row for irrigation of corn or beans.

Question. Does it pay to switch rows every other time I irrigate a set ? It sure is nice getting the field set at the beginning of the year and then all I need do is open and close valves. I currently am watering for 8 hours each set to save fuel instead of 12 hrs. We have a pit to catch the run off and pump it back into the pipe. I water on the average once every 7 days.

Thanks.
