Except across the field instead of having 1 riser run the entire stretch and then controlling the water with the pipe gates, they just have more risers from the underground line. At least that's how I took it. We used to have the same thing. 8" underground line ran the entire side of a 1/4. Along that we had 8 risers that came up and split the field into 20 acre "benches" at least that's what we called them. Then we'd run a couple of benches and move on to the next one, instead of having to adjust gates for the entire 1/2 mile. | |
