doggone What was that Supreme Court case about & what was the final ruling? I could be wrong but I don't think any of us OWNS any of the airspace above any of our ground. I suspect our silos, bins, legs, or radio towers stick up into the airspace, but because that's our structure, doesn't mean we own that airspace. I think we USE it & most things operating in the air have some type of rules to help assure our safety on the ground. But, rules are words on paper & can't stop anything by themselves. The drone that crashed behind the ski-racer in Italy violated rules they had agreed to in order to fly there. A typical Cessna/Piper/Beech/Bellanca/whatever aircraft flown by a student pilot can legally fly over your "sparsely populated area" corn field at 1' above the ground as long as there is no person or structure (man-made) within 500' laterally. Same w/a drone. |
