Chebanse, IL..... | doggone The "500' MSA rule" plays in when there are structures, people, or vehicles in the area. These are all man-made or people in fact. Doesn't include animals, trees, hills, or dirt. If you can maintain 500' lateral distance from any & all of those man made things, you can roll your wheels off the corn leaves, or do a buzz job. But, then there's always the "careless & reckless operation" catch-all clause. These affect air things in flight, not landing. Obviously if a helicopter or balloon wants to land in your back yard with your permission, they can & not be considered reckless. The reckless clause is usually instigated after you hit something & wreck the plane or something around you. Re. the 400' max height above terrain for drones, do you feel that is a regulation, or a suggested operating practice at this point in time? |
