Subject: RE: Couple of DJI P3A questions

Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463
Return to Home: XXXXX
Most of the time the drone will first climb to the return to home elevation.
And I fully believe your 100' is to low. Too many 100' + trees around.
Mind is set to 120meters/400'

Then go to over the home point.
Then lower to the ground.

Above I said. 'Most of the time'
However if fairly close to home it will not climb first.
Just go to the home point and land.
I would not push the Return to Home deal if close.

Another plus for a high R2H setting - Gives you time to think.
A good chance it is not going to come down on the home point anywhere near what we would call RTK or OmniStar close, even WAAS close.
I have sideswiped my Jeep on a R2H.

Be prepared to cancel the landing and land it yourself.

If battery level gets very low. It will just drop where it is.
You can over ride a low battery R2H, but if you run battery too low, It will take matters into it's own hands.

Range: XXXX
I have had mind 5,750' away with no problems, no 'Weak Signal' warning.
Also had it 6,250' with a warning about signal.

And have gotten 'Weak Signal' warnings, then a automatic R2H while less than a half mile away.

Height helps.
If going over 2000' or so away from me, I like it at 120meters/400'

After a long distance flight, I prefer the return trip be R2H.
First R2H is a straight line.
Second it does not fly flat out fast. Better battery life.

If you get a weak signal R2H, you can take over after it get closer to you and the signal improves.
