Pull a shallow soil test when you pull your 8 inch sample and you will find the deficiency and if not it is tied up. Use something to buffer 100 lbs. of 0-0-60 and you will usually fix the deficiency. Hog manure is a good one but anything to buffer the pH of the muriate of potash.
