We've had three of them for a whole lot more then two weeks and they're still working fine, thank you. Maybe we're just not as hard on stuff as some people . The latch on these is all external where you can reach in and trip it (carefully) by hand if you need to, such as when it gets overextended. Gotta be real careful so you don't get your hand caught when it starts to roll, though.
