Franklinton, LA | In the 80s and 90s my two sons and I fished the Pointe Aux Chenes area south of Houma, LA. About 10:00 am the speckled trout and red fish quit biting. I would use a boat paddle to scrape barnacles off the oil field piling. They enjoyed catching sheep head around the piling.
Back at the camp they would throw the sheep head off the dock and bait the area to catch crabs.
Last spring my grandson completed another good year at MS State. He and some friends celebrated by making a run to some oil rigs about 80 miles south of Ocean Springs, MS. Blackened red snapper and lemon fish steaks are good!
The first 3 photos show speckled trout. The last two photos show red snapper and lemon fish.
