East of Broken Bow | If its breathing, the heifer is claiming it, and the weather is such that it won't chill, I have found the best thing is to watch it, but leave it alone. If the heifer starts wandering off before it gets up, then it might be time to do something. Otherwise, most of what you'll be doing will be annoying the new mama.
The other thing I will add is if it's been over 2 hours since I saw toes and the calf isn't out, it's time to get out the chains. Exception would be if the heifer isn't trying. | |
