NS Canada | New method is to put calf in sternal position, to take pressure off the diaphragm. (laying with legs tucked under themselves, so they are squarely upright)
'If a calf needs assistance breathing, place it in the recovery position by rolling the calf into the sternal position where its chest and stomach are on the ground. The front and back legs should all be extended straight forward.'
Hanging them over something is outdated and the fluid people believed to be coming from the lungs was found to actually be stomach contents. Laying sternally is the most relaxed position for them to get their wits about them, as their body systems normalize.
