It doesn’t hurt to politely mention it again, as you weren’t told to buzz off previously.

The renter doesn’t have much bearing in this from your point of view. If I were the land owner I would prefer to involve him and have you both in a bidding war; but that is not your concern to pull into the discussion!

I absolutely hate telephones and much prefer typing something out. But in a case like this, a letter is going to sit in a corner of the desk for a long time and be forgotten. You really need to talk face to face or at least on the phone and get and give immediate feedback, make a more serious inroad while the idea is out there now. Not a piece of paper that gets read fast and sits under a pile of paper might think about and get to later….
