If this is going to be a regularly used thing, I’d be putting a foot valve on the end of your hose, a valve on the output side to choke it down for priming, and a hose thread to pipe adapter in your priming port with a valve on it, adapted up to 2” pipe a foot or so long.

If this is something that’s going to be run daily, losing your prime, then having to fight it every time will be a headache.
