On an attached garage; I have read that people that plan to live in that house for a long time, put a ramp at the front of the garage, going into the house. This is for possible wheelchair access and/or walker in the future. Just plan on some extra depth in the garage going into the house entry.

I saw one design that had steps, 90 degrees to the ramp, right at the entry door. This kinda created a shortcut, for those that don't need the ramp. Of course, the ramp was a "straight shot" into the entry door into the house.
