After several years of notill I wonder if the compaction level is equally higher all over the farm now so you don't see the compaction streaks as much? It is true that long term notill ground seems to be much firmer, until you get it soaked, then it seems to take a lot longer to dry up.
I still think compaction is a yeild killer and have seen nothing to prove otherwise yet. I still will probably continue to notill just because our light clay with steep slopes cannot stand the erosion. Tradeoffs.. | |
