That's a good suggestion. Buy another brand and the OE and cut them apart and see for yourself. I don't know what you'll find, but it might be worth it to see. My wife and I both ride Harley's and there are people on the net that have done just that with various filters and it was surprising what they found. The OE's were ok, but there are others that are as good or better (at least for Harley's). Sometimes not a lot of price difference, but sometimes there is.
