Depending on timing of harvest, and your location, you might consider the following,
Crimson clover, tap root, and it will fix some N, jury is out on how much N, but from what I am seeing, impressive results. if this one gets big on you it can be a real "bear" to try to plant into. This one is a "love it, or hate it" deal, no in between.
oats, in my area they will winter kill, and not remove spring moisture which can be of major benefit. They are very nice to plant into with a no-til planter.
