Subject: No way I'm going to till this ground in the spring.

All the discing and field cultivating these guys are talking about to kill the rye would just recompact the wet gumbo. No way I could let the rye get 24-48" tall and get rid of it to raise a crop. This ground plants the best just the way mother nature leaves it after winter and any field tillage trips just compact it. As a matter of fact, we have trouble with sidewall compaction from the planter restricting the roots. that's what I really need to address, that and shallow roots.
