How can I get a bigger root system in tough ground?

My uncle farms near Hereford, TX and they seemed to have crews come through quite regularly. I'll ask him if he still uses them and if the crews are still available. I was guessing that you might have some issues finding them in IA. I'll see what I can dig up.

And yes, the transient crews do a very good job. I agree about the working part. After I spent a Saturday afternoon hoeing and trying to clean up a milo field to make it look better I decided that those pigweeds weren't at the "economic" threshold yet:) Roguing isn't bad if you've got a crew, but it sure doesn't seem like you get anything done with 1 person.
