Volume is a space, which is the cup. you measure are volume of corn in the cup.
The test WEIGHT is the density of the corn in the cup, not the volume of the cup.

I still don't get how you can get weight out of a volume, (space) measurment. It is the stuff you put in the space that has weight.

Test Weight is the density of the corn in the cup not the volume of the cup. The cup has a volume of say 6 cubic inches. not right but just say. Can you weight 6 cubic inches of air?

Volume has measurement like cubic inches, yards, etc. Density has measures like lbs., grams, oz.
