Maybe erratic output from the starter/thio application system?? I have seen squeeze pumps put out erratic flow rates, there are examples of folks "forgetting" to put the orifices in to a piston pump system causing extremely erratic flow. 30 lb of 32% unevenly applied will certainly show a significant difference.
This would also account for more weeds in the green sections. If I had to bet I would suspect uneven N fertilizer application early. I would really check your planter fertilizer system before using it again. Total rate may have been ok but flow might have been erratic. jmho.
