I'm a little out of your area but what I have found over the years is hybrids with strong root ratings tend to be more drought tolerant. Most companies rate their hybrids for drought stress now. Also, talk to your dealer if he has experience and other farmers in your area.
I hope you have better luck than we are lately. Hot, dry Julys have us thinking milo again.
