3 questions for Jim Doolittle
1. If soybeans are lazy and would rather use available N rather than fix N, would more available N mean better yield?
2. Would the N carryover be as good as with fixed N?
3. If the N in manure is detrimental to yield, could it be mitigated with something like sawdust and get an OM gain?
Several years ago, we tried about 15lbs. actual of urea and did not see a gain that was noticeable, but are now using chicken litter composted on corn and are thinking of using it on beans.
