I figure the markup on parts is what’s supposed to cover the shelf and shop time. Small parts can be marked up significantly because they do take the same time to look up and order as big parts.
That said, if they’re going to start charging for the time it takes to look up and retrieve parts, I want the parts charged at cost, and in most places we’re going to need to have a chat about the speed at which the parts guys move.
