When I was a boy, nobody paid me a nickels worth of attention, unless I was bad. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. 

Believed or not children want to be disciplined.  They take it as a sign that we care enough to care for them.  Each of us are different, some of us need more love/attention than others to fulfill our self worth by our measuring stick.
