Northeast Indiana (Auburn) | First thing I would do is run the serial number. This way you would know where it was sold new and if any thing was done to it at a Deere dealer. I bought a 1982 with 2700 hours and a 1981 with 3035 hours. They were one owner tractors and the hours were correct. As far as how many hours are considered high I would not buy one with more than 5000 hours if you plan on using it as your main tractor. I don't have enough hours on either one of mine to know what to look for. I have several neighbors that have retired theirs to pulling a no-til drill or mowing with a 20' mower. Most of these have over 9000 hours with nothing done to them. New paint makes me wounder if the tractor has set out all of it's life. |
