High Springs, Florida | One of the many reasons we pulled up stakes and moved down here to the "armpit of Florida". This area is like NE Ohio was during the 50's and 60's. When I came down here in 2003, 10 acre lots were selling for $39,000, now they are selling for $250,000 2 years later. Locals are all upset at all the "damn Yankees" moving down here. Many in their 40's lament the fact that one or two cars used to come down our dirt road a day, now it's one or two every 15 minutes. Area swimming holes on the river, used to be free, now bought up by county and state, have admission fees. Damn state of Florida will only let you catch 2 Redfish a day, and they have size limits, used to be all you could catch, any size. I could go on and on.
It all boils down to this: Two people get married, (hopefully!!)and have kids. Those kids grow up, get married (hopefully!)and have kids. The process continues, on and on. It is not the "yankees" fault, or any other specific group. We are humans and we reproduce. | |
