Subject: not much help

Pittsburg, Kansas

I have been reading this thread and trying to think of something useful or helpful to say to you. I'm afraid I have come up short.

That said, it should give us all pause about ourselves as we age. Will we be the one our sons or daughters are dreading having to tell us to hang it up???? Most of us have that day coming.

I will turn 70 next spring. So far so good, although I can sure tell my reactions and abilities are not what they used to be. I think in your dads case he doesn't have anything other than farming that he is interested in. I am fortunate to have developed some interests other than farming so that is where most of my retirement hours are focused.

Maybe a new hobby? A girlfriend is probably out of the question (but would certainly take up a lot of extra time on his hands). A person somehow needs to have their mind and body engaged in something that seems worthwhile (even if by other peoples standards it isn't). As we get older that can be somewhat of a challenge.
