The idea of autonomous machinery causes me to feel a little uneasy also. The big guys who already try to farm the world locally will just have another tool available to try and farm more. As if 10,000-20,000 acres isn’t enough for one guy….. but I have a theory on it also

Markets, trends, politics, seasons etc are all on a pendulum. They swing one way until they can’t go any further and then slowly, then quickly back the other way until the same thing happens again.

I think we are about to the end of our pendulum swing towards robotics and automation in agriculture, at least for a while. There’s limits to everything and with JD, CNH, Agco all just thinking up new stuff to try and make more money I think the farmers will eventually say, “no thanks, I’ve had enough”.

If the day comes where a farmer no longer plants and harvests his crops, then that’s the day where there are no more farmers.
