Might be getting things mixed up here from original posts/statements. Is everyone on the same page?

Are you MN folks considering that strip till is now considered "conventional tillage"?

I think what Dr. Rehm was referring to was when considering phosphate application in strip-till, the amount applied would be the same as in a conventional tillage system even though strip-till is considered a conservation tillage production system.

If so-OK. That's news down here.

Otherwise, I think Mr Rehm is saying to INCREASE amounts of some fertilizers will be needed in "conservation tillage" operations. I'll admit though, I didn't quite follow all he wrote that well. Also-I'd assume that it would almost have to be a VRT application situation? He mentions (I guess), that this reduced fertilizer works when soil test readings are very low. I doubt you'd have a whole field that way, unless it's really been neglected.

Dr. Rehm is suggesting increasing the rate of potash only in a conservation tillage system. The rate of P2O5 does not increase.

I just think it may be better to have our roots grow out of the "band" & seek nutrients.
