Subject: RE: Speeding hay drying?

I've got a rotary rake and I'm not sure if it would gain you more than a couple hours if that. What I do like is with the light fluffy windrows I can rake the evening before and still get decent drying in the windrow. It basically extends my raking window which is my most limiting operation. I keep hay preservative around for situations like yours when you need another day but rain is coming. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I usually check www.weather.com but also check www.erh.noaa.gov (national weather service), www.accuweather.com, and www.wunderground.com when the forcast is questionable. If 2 out of 4 say rain I won't cut.
