Increased slaughter weights, Heifer retention, carried by a lot of dairy culls at the time and then dairy x beef calves really took off.

Heifer retention alone pulls a lot of bodies OUT of the meat supply for the first couple of years. As beef gets this high consumers find other things to eat, so less beef is needed each time - however it will be offset by however many million people flooded into your country (and mine) the last few years. By them downplaying the immigration numbers, they're trying to feed that many more people on the same food supply.

Must be the same adage as 'cheaper to bring the cows to feed, than the feed to the cows' scenario. Sure seem to hear a lot less about humanitarian aid to these poor countries now. We took in the strays instead.


Its not the strays that we're getting - - - ja there are some but if you look carefully you will see that a lot of them are quite educated people.

Compared to the immigrants of 50 to 70 years ago these are mostly white collar people and enough of them come with significant resources.
