I’d pay the bill in full and not deal with them again if you feel you truly got screwed. Next step is buy your own air conditioner equipment and do it yourself. Basically all I know about air conditioner systems has come from reading service manuals and ag talk. It’s been 20 years since I’ve hired ac work done.
