NE Iowa | I started seeing a different dentist about 3 years ago. K original dentist was always pushing me to come every 6 months and continually told me I needed to buy an $800 mouthpiece because he assumed I gritted my teeth at night. I explained to him that I grit my teeth when I’m awake and stressed so it would help. He also continually told me I was getting gum disease and that my gums were receding far too quickly. This dentist would scrap my teeth for long periods of time and leave my gums bleeding.
My current dentist checked my gums the first time I went to him and said my gums were in great shape. His hygienist had my teeth scraped clean in no time and told me I did a great job of taking care of my teeth. When I asked the new dentist about the wear on my molars from gritting my teeth he said my teeth looked fine for a fifty year old. He also said he doesn’t recommend this often but that I only needed to come for a cleaning once a year because I take such good care of my teeth.
I’d find a different dentist. | |
