Not surprising by my user name that I'll be the one to say I have a dental hygiene appoint four times a year. I do not have periodontal disease, but I like knowing I'm doing what I can to allow me to eat what I want. I have MANY crowns because of significant tooth decay when I was younger , but have been stable for many years. I have X-rays yearly and an exam once a year. I have an adult fluoride treatment at every hygiene appointment. This is to help protect my investment in the many crowns. I also use a prescription fluoride toothpaste twice a day. All of this costs me under $1000 a year, and I feel it's a very good investment in my health.
Keep in mind when making these decisions that there is a link between periodontal disease and heart disease.
