I go yearly and haven't had a problem in years.   I do have a very good ultra sonic electric toothbrush and I feel that helps immensely.   I don't have dental insurance.

My daughter in law is a dentist and she even says yearly if often enough if you take good care of your teeth and have no problems.   I can't go to her though, she's working in a closed practice, no public patients.
