Soybean row width discussion.....again

You said that SOME had a feeling one was better than the other. Reminds me of the time I rented a new farm. The farmer always said that he planted wide rows becasue they yielded better than narrow rows and he also never planted beans till may 15th at the earliest. He said his later planted always were better.
When i took the farm over I compared the gov proven yields with my own. He was 8 bu less than my average and 11 bu less than my best farm!!!
He had nothing to compare his yields with and thought that the yields he was getting were good!!! Maybe 15 years ago they were.
Side by sides ,yield monitors, weigh wagons ect... are the only way to really know.
I keep doing the row width comparison every year, not for my self because I already know,but for info for my dealers and clients to use as they wish.
