Subject: Magnesium levels, & Don Smith's soil test

Little River, TX
Don,

Just happened to be going through fertility notebook. There was from Ohio some related information. www.spectrumanalytic.com/support/library/ff/Mg_Basics.htm
I will leave the chasing after the links to you.
We do not know what the uptake by the crops on this new land is, maybe a tissue test next season will help there.
In any case adding calcium or potash will reduce the uptake of Mg.
He mentioned the "ideal ratio" of cations probably is from NJ in 1945.
This author is not overly excited about trying for an ideal Ca:Mg ratio.

This article applies more to my situation as I have way too much calcium and though the soil test for Mg is considered high the tissue analysis are on the low side of desired.
