Did that really happen or is that another urban legend?

The way they grow beans is different than the US. The agronomics are very different in the areas where expansion is taking place. They had to find cultivars that worked for their climate/soil because what was grown in southern Brazil and in Argentina for years didn’t yield well when moved into the more tropic type climate. It wasn’t until the researchers in Brazil found those varieties that production took off.
