NEBRASKA
What a perfect opportunity to try a different angle by using foliar applied biological N. You won’t be upsetting the landlord and you will be able to compare to your other acres on ROI and break even per bushel. Planting into rye is beautiful and an excellent way to control weed pressure at planting as well as mid season by it laying down a nice carpet of residue.

I have used N-Gen as a foliar application the last 4 years for N. It pulls N from the atmosphere and into the plant for 30-45 days. The cost per lb of N is under $.25 per lb. Increase your ROI. Have reduced my synthetic N to under 70lbs per acre on irrigated corn and this year will be zero synthetic N on continuous corn.

Full disclosure: I am also an owner of the company, while also using on all my acres. It’s also approved for organic use when sent to local certifiers
